Martin's Super Markets. Pledging service and value to customers and community since 1947.
In the fall of 1947, Jane and Martin Tarnow opened the first Martin's Super Market as an 800-square-foot store in the 1500 block of Portage Avenue in South Bend, Indiana. From that small beginning, Martin's Super Markets has grown to 20 stores located in South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, Granger, Nappanee, Plymouth, Logansport and Goshen, Indiana, as well as stores in Niles, St. Joseph and Stevensville, Michigan.
The Tarnows made their small store a success through hard work, determination and innovative ideas. Although these qualities are always important, it's customer service that is the top priority at every Martin's Super Markets. Each Martin's employee is trained to meet customers’ needs, while providing the best quality products and greatest value for the dollar.
Martin’s has continued to offer its customers added conveniences such as full-service Floral Shoppes and specialty departments, including Side Door Deli Cafés, which offer a full variety of hot and cold ready-to-eat menu items. Customers can even pick up their favorite Starbucks® beverage at over half of the Martin’s stores.
Paw Mart pet supply stores are located in Elkhart's Jackson Boulevard, Cobblestone Crossing, Granger North and St. Joseph's Cleveland Avenue locations. A "Do It Best" hardware center is found in Martin's Portage Avenue location in South Bend. Martin's Advantage Card holders enjoy exclusive discounts at any one of seven Martin’s Fuel Centers. Customers can also get their prescriptions filled while they shop at any one of thirteen convenient, in-store pharmacies.
Community service and involvement are also high on the list of priorities at Martin's Super Markets. In November 1989, Martin's initiated the Heat for Homes program, an annual campaign to raise funds to keep the heat turned on for families in need during the winter months. Heat for Homes has resulted in more than $1.3 million in heating assistance for families in St. Joseph, Elkhart, Marshall and Cass counties in Indiana.
To meet the needs of area schools, Martin's established the Advantages for Education program which helps schools earn much-needed educational equipment through customers' use of their Martin's Advantage Cards. Martin's has donated $2.3 million in cash and computer equipment to area schools since 1989. Martin's also sponsors several other programs that give back to the community, including Stuff a Bus (food drive) and Roofsit (prevent child abuse). Visit our community involvement page and our Make a Difference Michiana Portal Page to find out more about our community efforts.
Still a family-owned and operated business, Rob Bartels is currently the president and CEO of Martin's Super Markets; Bob Bartels is chairman.

I hate sushi...but my wife loves it. Martin's Deli carries a lot of it. The little woman is happy - therefore, I'm happy!

Last week my Lodge put on a dinner honoring a group of people in town. That part is not why I'm writing. The reason for my note is to let everyone know about how well we were treated by Martin's! One of the Lodge members (who is not a cook by any means) worked with a Martin's store manager to figure out all the food needed to feed a group of 200 people. The manager at the Martin's store was extremely helpful and polite. He helped us with the right ingredients, and even threw in some recipe help too. In the end we spent over $500 for food, but it is our belief that he helped us "buy it right", and we ended up saving a lot of money. We counted on our experience with Martin's to be a good one based on their terrific reputation for customer service, and in the end...it was much better than expected! Thank you Martin's! We'll be coming back again soon!

I ordered online from the deli and it worked great. That radio commercial on WIRX is great. I hear it on my way to work every day. Problem is at 6am I want to order deli food, but have to wait till my lunch hour.
I think that Whirlpool should have all the lunch meeting catered by Martins.
Can someone talk to Jeff and get this done?.....and order 3 dishes of potato's next time.

So now I can use Find It Local 411 to directly connect to Martins online! This is great. The only thing that I see I don't like is that you can't online order chicken meals less than 12 pcs. Other than that everything is cool.

Ever since Martins came to Niles I've been very pleased. Now I don't have to drive to South Bend to buy groceries. I like Walmart and Meijer, but for grocery shopping and deli food you just can't beat Martins. Martins chicken is the BEST hands down.
Keep up the good work Martins -R

Where would we be in Michiana without Martin's? Always quality, always value and always great service. And the way they give back to the community is second to none. I for one am proud to call Martin's my home town grocery store
